Reiki is healing method that relies on channeling life force energy, or Chi, through the hands. According to Reiki theory, we have energy centers located throughout our bodies that facilitate the flow of Chi. The underlying belief is that a healthy physical body correlates strongly with balanced and smooth flowing Chi through our energy centers. Conversely, Chi energy that is blocked by poorly functioning energy centers may result in disease. When a Reiki practitioner lays her hands on a client, she becomes a vessel for this life force energy to flow from the universe through her body. This Chi energy is then channeled through her hands and into the other person to clear the obstructions that are predisposing the disease.
Reiki is a form of Japanese energy channeling that dates back to ancient times. Regardless of geography, almost every early culture discovered that there is great power in using the body’s own energy reserves to engage its natural ability to heal. This internal energy is a dominant force of good that can and should be embraced. This ancient technique aims to balance your ‘Chakras’ or key energy centers in the body. This enforces physical health, emotional well-being, stress reduction and mental clarity—even if you’re suffering from depression, emotional pain, or in acute pain.
Reiki masters can help you reconnect with yourself because the best way to address physical ailments (that are not caused by physical trauma) is through healing the energy body—and our patterns and stories around them. Like other methods of energy healing, Reiki actually has a lot of scientific claim as a legitimate natural healing tool, and because of this fact, it’s also becoming an increasingly accepted practice in hospitals and clinics as complementary therapy. In fact, observational evidence strongly points to the fact that Reiki is effective in enhancing learning, memory and mental clarity, promoting the healing of emotional wounds, mitigating frustration and anger, and strengthening personal relationships with others—but more importantly—with our inner selves.
