Prolozone is a regenerative therapeutic approach that combines the principles of neural therapy, Prolotherapy, and ozone therapy. It involves injecting combinations of anesthetic, anti-inflammatory medications, homeopathics, vitamins and a mixture of ozone/oxygen gas into degenerated or injured joints, and into areas of pain.
The ozone gas stimulates cells in joints and soft tissue to start repairing themselves. Because ozone is a gas, it disperses easily throughout the joint, stimulating the surrounding tissue and causing a widespread healing response.
Effectiveness of joint pain treatment increases significantly if joint injection is done under direct ultrasound guidance.
Lyftogt P.I.T.® is a safe and effective treatment for painful conditions due to neurogenic inflation as a result of sport and occupation or other chronic non-malignant pain related issues. It was first discovered and later significantly developed by New Zealand physician Dr. John Lyftogt.
I had the privilege to learn the technique directly from Dr. Lyftogt himself.
The treatment consists of a series of small injections of isotonic dextrose solution under the skin, targeting painful areas where the sensitive nerves are located.
The first part of your Initial Evaluation involves an interview, during which your medical history, current symptoms and previous treatments will be reviewed.
-The second part is an extensive physical examination which might include (if deemed necessary) musculoskeletal diagnostic ultrasound study of the area of interest. Also, if a patient wishes to get immediate (though temporal) relief of severe pain, ultrasound-guided corticosteroid injection will be provided.
-The third part will include a discussion of findings, information about the various options available (conventional and alternative) to improve your condition as well as pros and cons each.

-Prolotherapy (Non-Surgical Reconstruction of Tendons and Ligaments) is an injection procedure that stimulates the body’s genetically programmed self-healing processes to repair painful joint and joint- support structures (capsule, tendons, ligaments, etc.). When ligaments or tendons are injured, they become a significant source of pain. Also the joint they support destabilizes, which can lead to the development of osteoarthritis and pain.
It is important to treat the root cause of the pain instead of masking it with pain medication or cortisone shots.
Efficacy of prolotherapy is about 80-85%. This means up to 80% of orthopedic surgeries like joint replacement, back surgery etc. could be avoidable.
PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) injection therapy is a revolutionary non-surgical treatment option for conditions such as neck/ back pain, joint pain, ligament/tendon sprains and partial tears, etc.
Platelets (derived from a patient’s own blood and injected back into the compromised structures) function as a natural reservoir for growth factors that are essential to self-repair injured tissues. The growth factors that platelets secrete stimulate tissue recovery by increasing collagen production, enhancing tendon stem cell proliferation, and tenocyte-related gene and protein expression.
Not all PRP samples are created equal and the effectiveness of the procedure greatly
depends on the technique.
