Do you feel as if you are on a continual treadmill that doesn't have a pause button?  Would you like to have better relationships both inside and outside of work? Does the good life seem not so great? Denette's expertise is focused on teaching you how to make kindness toward yourself a core value in your daily life.  Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) is the latest and more effective answer to making this one life we have better. It is helpful with many of life's issues including: grief, relationship issues, anxiety, obsessive and destructive habits, addiction recovery, adult and teen depression. Seven years ago Dr. Kristin Neff and Dr. Christopher Germer developed a program for teaching people how to make friends with themselves in a program titled: Mindful Self-Compassion. In it's fullest form it is an 8-week program which will be offered as a workshop online. There are adaptations for other purposes and needs including working one-on-one with Denette to build your capacity for becoming self-compassion and more mindful in your life. There are variations for specific populations such as those with life fatigue and caregiver fatigue. Denette received her training from The Center for Mindful Self-Compassion, founded by Dr. Kristin Neff and Dr. Christopher Germer.  She is one of the few certified teachers of MSC in the world.  She also enjoys speaking about MSC at conferences and seminars.

Learning how to meditate is the easy part; finding the approach that works for your needs takes more effort. We will problem-solve so that you find a way to add this amazing life-enhancing skill to your life successfully.

Grief is a feeling we all experience. A human life includes grief. And grief is personal; no one can tell us what we need to do or how long it will be before we move through grief. One thing research consistently shows is that moving through grief by turning toward it rather than turning away from it or denying it gives us the best opportunity to move through it and get on the other side. It also helps us experience our grief as an experience of integrity and one of life learning. It is your personal experience; my role is to help you find a way that works for you to turn toward your grief and give yourself permission to take the time and path you want to take.

Quality of life depends on balance in all the areas of our life. To determine where you are out of balance, I will have you do an easy, fun, and illuminating exercise. Once you know where you are out of balance we will work together to bring you back to balance. You decide, ultimately, what balance is for you. I use activities and education to give you the tools you need to find balance and fulfillment.

Stress is frequently the result of letting our minds worry or ruminate over the past or worry and experience fear about the future. Our brains are wired to look for the negatives; mindfulness changes the brain to a more positive habit by being and experiencing our lives rather than living in our heads

Parents want to be the best parent they can be for their children. But many of us frequently react to our children's behaviors, words, feelings, and needs in ways we don't intend and aren't really sure why it goes so poorly when our goals are so different. The reason is often a combination of the experiences we had as children with our parents and our brain's reactivity. Mindfulness is way to train your brain to take a pause that allows your brain to calm down giving you the time you need to respond in more helpful, caring ways to your children.

These stressors range from bullying, cyberbullying, competition to succeed in sports and education, peer pressure, and loss of simple downtime to rejuvenate and recharge. Learn to make friends with yourself with the practices and skills of self-kindness, awareness, mindfulness.
