Find Your Power: How to Awaken Your Solar Plexus Chakra
The solar plexus chakra, also known as Manipura, is an energy center associated with strength and fire. When you want to awaken your inner warrior, focus on unblocking this chakra which is found beneath the heart and above the navel. Bringing the vibration of the solar plexus into a state of balance can have positive effects upon your state of mind, including your determination to overcome obstacles.
Implement the tips below to begin opening this chakra and to allow its energy to flow into your life.
1. Chant the Manipura Mantra
During a seated meditation, close your eyes and begin focusing on your breath moving into and out of your nose. Then bring to mind the mantra that’s associated with the third chakra: Ram. Repeat this mantra to yourself as you inhale and exhale calmly.
As you meditate and silently recite this mantra, bring your awareness to your stomach area and envision the color yellow bursting forth from there. This is where the solar plexus is located, so, bringing your attention to the area will help clear energetic blockages, especially when you envision it bathed in the yellow light of this chakra.
2. Bring Fire to Your Core
Core exercises will help to physically generate heat in the area of your solar plexus chakra. Focus on yoga poses like boat pose, plank pose, side plank pose, and chaturanga, as a few examples. Ignite that fire within your belly on a physical level so you can also awaken it on an energetic level.
3. Eat Foods That Enliven the Solar Plexus Chakra
In the same way that the right foods can provide vitality to the physical body, they can also promote balance in your chakra. To “feed” your solar plexus and bring healing there, consume foods that are yellow or orange in color, such as sweet potatoes, pumpkin, squash, orange and yellow bell peppers, yellow pears, golden apples, corn, and lemons. You can also incorporate spelt, oats, brown rice, and lentils into your diet in order to awaken this energy center.
Agni, which is your digestive fire, should also be activated if you wish to tap into the power of the third chakra. Healthy digestion can be achieved by drinking beverages that have been slightly warmed or are at room temperature. Avoid overeating and drinking too much water, reduce your intake of spicy foods, and avoid fruit juice, soda, and alcohol.
Finally, allow your stomach to rest in between meals, rather than snacking frequently, as doing so will help to replenish Agni.
4. Essential Oils and Gemstone Therapy
Essential oils can be diffused into your environment or worn as perfume. When they’re associated with certain chakra, they can help release energy and healing from within. When it comes to the third chakra, stick with essential oils like cinnamon, sandalwood, rose, rosemary, frankincense, clove, myrrh, rosewood, ginger, lemon, and chamomile, as they’ll be warm yet rejuvenating.
Gemstones that are associated with the solar plexus chakra are those that are yellow in color. They include yellow jasper, sunstone, citrine, amber, golden calcite, golden tiger eye, and yellow topaz. You can wear these healing gemstones as jewelry, keep them under your pillow, place them in your home or on your desk at work, and hold them during meditation to invoke their balancing properties.
5. State Positive Affirmations Daily
Before starting your day, look in the mirror and recite positive affirmations that will further stimulate your third chakra. Tell yourself that you love and accept who you are, that you aren’t afraid to do great things, that you deserve love and respect, and that you can achieve whatever you desire.
As your solar plexus chakra begins to open, you should find that you have greater control over your thoughts and emotions, and your fears will start to subside. You’ll be willing to go after what you want and you’ll be ready to face challenges with greater equanimity and focus so you can speak your mind and follow your heart with conviction.
