Don't Feel Connected with Your Sun Sign? Your Moon Sign Might Be Why
When someone asks you "what's your sign," chances are that what they really mean is "what's your sun sign?" Your sun sign represents the position of the sun at the time of your birth, but did you know that you also have a moon sign? While less widely discussed, the position of the moon at the time of your birth can play in important role in the shaping of your personality.
If you've never identified too closely with your sun sign, then your moon sign might be the reason why. Perhaps you've felt that some of your sun sign descriptions are accurate to a degree, but seem to be just slightly off with regards to certain aspects of your personality.
We know that there aren't just twelve types of people in the world, and this is in part because of the way that the combinations of moon signs and sun signs interact. Many people with the same sun sign may share important similarities, but their moon signs can cause them to differ greatly in some aspects.
Sun signs tend to describe the more assertive, outward parts of our personalities. Your sun sign is the part of you that you are willing to show the world, and therefore the part that others more readily see. For example, if your sun sign is one that often leads and takes charge, then you are likely a good leader even if you don't necessarily seek to be one.
Moon signs are exactly the opposite of sun signs. They represent the hidden, emotional, and intuitive parts of our personalities. Your moon sign is likely to correspond more closely to your inner mood, despite what you outwardly display. Though the moon tends to rule your hidden, unconscious self, your unconscious needs and desires can often be more powerful than your conscious thoughts.
For example, someone with a Scorpio moon is likely to keep all of their stress under wraps instead of talking to others about it, while someone with a Gemini moon will seek to discuss their issues with others, but might feel even more confused afterwards! As an Aries sun is headstrong and independent, an Aries moon can find it beneficial to deal with their emotions in a physical way, such as going for a walk.
When someone's sun and moon signs are the same, or when their moon sign closely matches the traits of their sun sign, that person's sun sign traits tend to be amplified. Someone with the same sun and moon sign is likely going to have an easier time understanding their own emotions, as their emotions will be reflective of their outer personality.
Having a different moon sign, especially if the moon sign contains many traits which contradict with your sun sign, can be a recipe for a good deal of emotional confusion and conflicting desires. You might feel like a paradox to yourself, and often find that you don't particularly like the things you're good at, and maybe aren't so naturally good at the things you like!
An example of people who often feel disconnected from their sun signs are those with a fiery sun sign and a more mellow moon sign. They are naturally inclined towards action and towards being near the center of attention, but can become emotionally exhausted by it all, requiring some time to recuperate afterwards.
There are numerous moon sign calculators available online, but in order to use them correctly you need to know not only your birth date, but also the approximate time of your birth. The morning and evening of the same day can have different moon signs, so, if you don't know your time of birth, make sure you ask your parents!
Knowing your moon sign can provide you with some insight into your emotions and into why your sun sign never fit just right. Look it up and you'll likely experience an "aha!" moment as it becomes clear to you how your two signs have interacted to shape the person you are.
